January 7, 2023 - I SHOULD WRITE MORE OFTEN...

Well, here we are again - my usual apologies for not updating my blog more often -one of those things that I know I should be doing, but then I put it off. Whip me, beat me, make me write bad checks…

2022 was a pretty decent year, all things considered. Sold a few originals, did about a dozen shows, give or take, and finished quite a few commissions. Made some new friends along the way, which is always a good thing.

Seems it was a year that found me on a little bit of a roll, award - wise. My friends are always telling me that I should mention these more often, so - Got invited to participate in an event in England called “International Water Colour Masters, a very exclusive gathering of water color works from all over the world. Couldn’t physically be there, but I shipped a couple of pieces over. A very limited number of artists (40-50) were invited to participate, so this was quite an honor. Plus, I just found out that I will be invited again for the 2024 version. ..I entered two different exhibits, Spring and Fall, at Mooresville Arts (Mooresville, NC), and won Best In Show both times. Entered the International Guild of Realism’s Fall Online Salon, and won Best Metal and Chrome Award. I also entered an event in Pontiac Michigan, called “Canvas Pontiac” - they had added a new category specifically for automotive subjects, (it is the Motor City, after all), and I placed Second in that category. So, there’s a whole paragraph of shameless self-promotion.

Looks like I’m signing up for the Amelia Island Concours again. One of the MAJOR events on the automotive enthusiasts’ calendar. this will take place in early March - hoping all my friends attending will come and visit. Also, a couple of weeks after that, I will be attending the Amigo Guitar Show in Nashville, TN with some of my guitar paintings and prints. If there’s any place where I might have some luck with the guitar subjects, it should be Nashville! I’ve been working on this series of guitar paintings for a few years now, and it’s about time I did something serious toward marketing them.

I should be updating a calendar of events soon, to let everyone know where I will be showing in 2023, look for it soon.

And, as always, I’m working on a couple of dozen paintings right now - some fins & chrome, some Classics, some race cars, some sports cars, some more rusty stuff, - in other words , my usual frenetic and widely varied pursuits!

Thanks for your interest in my work, have a Great New Year, and hopefully we’ll see each other at a car event near you!
