April 18, 2022 - LATE AGAIN!

Well, hello everybody,

It looks like I must apologize once again for not updating my blog posts. It seems like I get so caught up in painting, traveling to shows, etc., that I neglect my administrative duties here - then at some point I realize how long it has been since I last updated.

I hope everyone is getting back into something that resembles normal after all the obstacles provided by our friend Covid. The last event we did before everything got shut down or cancelled was the Amelia Island Concours 2019. That was when the pandemic was just starting to be a thing of concern in the news, early March of that year. After that, just about all of the car shows and Concours were being cancelled or re-sceduled. So needless to say, 2019 tuened out to be a pretty lean year. The good news, though, was that since I was not traveling so much, I was able to complete quite a few more new paintings than I would have been able to otherwise. I think I have added most of them to the site, and some of them have prints available by now.

Speaking of prints, I hope to be able to gradually catch up up on a backlog of paintings that are yet to be made into prints. Plus, I hope to be able to bring some more prints into the “Shop” area from the Portfolio - some older things that are still available but haven;t made it into Shop yet, to make them easy / convenient to order. It’s amazing how much material I have amassed over the 40-plus years that I have been doing this!

For 2020, some shows were still not active, but I did manage to get out to a couple of events, and in 2021, things started to pick up somewhat. I found that some events were well attended, with people having “cabin fever”, wanting to get out and do something. Sales at shows were improving, plus a few commissions came in over the transom, so business was picking up. So far for this year (2022), we have done the Amelia Island Concours (now taken over by Hagerty, and called The Amelia), and the first Spring Auto Fair at Charlotte Motor Speedway just a couple of weeks ago. At Amelia, we did manage to sell an original and a pretty good handful of prints, so I think I’ll be able to justify going back. It’s a very expensive event to do, and it was nice to do well enough to not be “in the hole” on the expenses. Auto Fair is right here at home, so I didn’t have to worry too much about costs for a change. Prints sales were surprisingly good, and we saw quite a few of our car friends that we hadn’t seen in quite a while.

For the remainder of this year, I have made some adjustments to my schedule - dropping 3 or 4 events that just were no longer producing sales, while adding a new thing here and there for the sake of trying something new. I’m trying to figure out how to plug in my schedule within my new site format so that I can publish that as well.

Thank you for bearing with me and my tardiness, I promise that I will try to improve!
