The Canadian-American Challenge Cup was an (almost) unlimited Sports Car Racing series, allowing very free design parameters for constructors. The McLaren 8 Series of cars were powered by huge Chevrolet engines putting out as much as 800 hp, while weighing less than 2,000 lbs. They completely dominated the Series from 1967-1971, so much so, that it was being referred to as the “Bruce and Denny Show”, denoting drivers Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme.
