In 1956, Studebaker decided to make a styling and performance statement, making changes to their very attractive line of coupes. They installed a massive Packard V8 engine, (to be replaced the following year by a smaller, lighter Studebaker engine with a supercharger), added a sportier grille design and fins, and the Golden Hawk was born.
